When we first traveled to New York City in September 2017, we crammed so much in three days and really wanted to revisit and take things a little slower. We received an amazing deal through the Hilton Honors program we signed up for and were able to stay at Hilton Midtown Manhattan. We were both so thrilled to finally get to back and see snow in the city!
DAY ONE
Ground Central – @groundcentral
Per usual we took a late night flight and did our best to sleep in. We landed around 9am and headed to the hotel. We were able to check in early (for $5O) and got out day started…with coffee of course! Really enjoyed the oat milk latte while we walked in the snow.
McHales Bar – @mchalesnyc
It always happens that when we are traveling some important soccer or NFL Football game is on. This time was no exception, so we went to lunch an awesome pub for lunch to watch El Clásico (Real Madrid vs Barcelona). Too bad there wasn’t many Real Madrid fans.
Dumbo Brooklyn – @dumbobid
Did you even go to New York if you didn’t walk the Brooklyn Bridge? Nope! – per usual we are so brave and adventurous when traveling and take public transportation everywhere (Side note: I never take public transportation or even an Uber/Lyft here locally. I know I’m weird). So we took the subway to Brooklyn and walked back to the city with the beautiful view.
Parker & Quinn – @parkerandquinn
When planning a trip we first look at where we want to eat and plan our days around that. I know such fatties lol. We try to find at least one fancy spot to try and the rest of the day its more foodie type of joints. Honestly, if you feel this place is too pricey, you need to at least go have a drink and enjoy the amazing atmosphere. As soon as we walked in I fell in love!
ME: Winter Old Fashion (scotch) & Mac ‘n Cheese
HUBS: Blood Orange Margarita & Lamb Rigatoni
DAY TWO
Minskoff Theatre – @thelionking
For one reason or the other I always put off seeing a musical. I honestly didn’t think (1) I could afford it and (2) that my husband would want to go. But timing was perfect. I was at the edge of my seat the entire time in awe of the amazing production. Hands down a must see!! – now what musical to see next.
Joes Pizzeria – @joespizzanyc
Pizza and New York are like Minnie and Mickey right? – such delicious pizza!
Pandora/HBO Store
On our one year wedding anniversary, my husband gifted me a Portland Pandora charms while on our trip. For Christmas (a few months after) I got a second Pandora bracelet for my travel charms…so I had to get a cute and only available in NYC taxi charm.
Yup, I talked a lot of crap about this show and now I am obsessed!! – definitely check out the entire Game of Thrones collection at Danielle Nicole and see all the other amazing stuff she’s designed.
Grand Central Terminal – @grandcentralnyc
Felt like I was Mila Kunis in Friends with Benefits walking into a flash mob of dancers lol. It was such a breathtaking place.
Times Square – @timessquarenyc
Unfortunately it started raining so we didn’t really get to take pictures and enjoy our walk. But the snow the next morning was amazing.
DAY THREE
Blue Dog Cookhouse & Bar – @bluedognyc
Definitely recommend getting some breakfast before starting the day. I enjoyed Almond milk cafe latte & veggie omelet. The hubs ordered a Macchiato & Eggs Benedict with Crab cakes, he loved it all.
Central Park – @centralparknyc
Getting to walk through the park covered in snow was beyond breathtaking. We spend a few hours strolling around seeing the park and the buildings around it. We later walked to Whole Foods which was an experience of its own. Clearly I am not cut out to live in the “city” lol. But, we love grabbing real and yummy food before leaving instead of spending lots of money on over priced airport foods.
Loved seeing the city in winter! Got a little cold, wet and missed seeing some spots; now I need to add to my bucket list to see the city in the fall.
See you next time New York!
xoxo,
Michelle
